Maersk Line has revealed that, despite the recent disastrous events in Japan, there are currently no restrictions in booking with the group, while ports are working at normal capacity.
The shipping group said that there had, however, been congestion in the ports of Tokyo and Yokohama due to necessary closures made during Friday and Saturday in the wake of the earthquake and subsequent tsunami.
While there are no commercial restrictions with bookings to or via Japan, services to and from Sendai, Hachinohe and Onahama have been suspended.
Depending on how the situation develops, Maersk noted that it may decide to deviate some vessels, with specific contingencies communicated on a vessel-by-vessel basis.
'We are following the authorities' recommendations on safety matters,' the group said in a statement. 'Maerskline.com will be kept updated with general updates as the situation develops.'
