Maersk Line's proposed acquisition of Hamburg Sud, first announced in December last year, could be set for antitrust approval from the EU.
The deal could be set for the green light after Maersk Line agreed to pull the German group from some trade routes, therefore easing concerns about the competitive impact on the industry, Reuters reported citing a source close to the deal.
Maersk Line has also said that it will divest Mercosul Line in Brazil, so that the Brazilian competition authority CADE gives its backing to the acquisition.
