Danish shipping group Maersk Line has announced that it has maintained its status as the most reliable of the top 20 carriers across all trades in Drewry's quarterly industry benchmark on reliability, the Drewry Schedule Reliability Insight.
Maersk Line has held the top spot for the past six quarters, and remained at the top of the list with a reliability score of 90.5 per cent, slightly down on the second quarter of 2012 but still the only carrier with a score above 90 per cent.
"We are proud to be number one and are committed to maintaining our ranking while lowering our costs, including bunker consumption." said Morten Engelsoft, chief operating officer at Maersk Line.
"It is in our DNA to be reliable; keeping it that way requires a continuous focus on our global network, and managing the three key dimensions of high utilisation, high reliability and low cost," added Keith Svendsen, head of network execution at the group.
