Maersk Line has announced that it is introducing a new call at Pipavav in India to its Europe-Middle East/South Asia (ME3) service, to provide new opportunities for customers in the north Indian market.
Benefits of the change include a the establishment of a direct inland service between north India and the Mediterranean, shorter inland transit time to and from north India, and cheaper haulage to and from the region.
'Together with the existing ME1 (north Europe product), the Pipavav call extends our coverage in this growing market,' the group said in a press release.
The new ME3 rotation is Gioia Tauro (Italy), Algeciras (Spain), Tangier (Morocco), Tarragona (Morocco), Gioia Tauro, Port Said (Egypt), Salalah (Oman), Jebel Ali (UAE), Pipavav, Nhava Sheva (India), Jebel Ali and Port Said.
The first vessel to call at Pipavav will be the Nedlloyd Drake, which is expected to arrive on 6 April.
