Maersk Walvis Bay reached the port of Puerto Bolívar last Friday, marking the beginning of the Danish shipping giant's operations at the Colombian facility.
The 350TEU-capacity vessel arrived with 150 empty containers and will be loaded up with 80 40ft containers of bananas for markets in Europe and the Mediterranean.
Walvis Bay will offload its cargo to other vessels at Panama's Manzanillo port and will now exclusively serve the Panama-Ecuador and Ecuador-Panama routes.
