The 2011 edition of Italian fresh produce event Macfrut, which takes place at Cesena's trade fair centre on 5-7 October this year, is seeing exhibition space quickly snapped up, to the extent that the number of exhibitors has already reached the same level as in 2010.

According to the event organisers, delegates are being attracted to Macfrut by the event's versatility, which covers all sectors of the industry, as well as the standard of participants.

Among the visitors will be buyers and category managers from department stores interested in meeting exporters, gathering the latest information on production trends of new varieties, and learning about new technologies. They will be joined by experts from each segment of the supply chain, from production heads to executives.

'With its next edition, Macfrut will prove to be a central meeting point for the trade of fruit and vegetable products from the Mediterranean basin – our aim is to create meeting occasions and to ease commercial agreements of mutual interest between exhibitors and visiting delegations,' said Domenico Scarpellini, president of Cesena Fiera.

The 2010 edition of Macfrut drew some 22,000 professionals to view 740 different exhibitors, with over 100 different countries represented.
