Gulf retailer Lulu Hypermarket has signed an agreement to open a 100,000 sq ft store in The Mall at Abu Dhabi World Trade Center, according to a report from Arabian Business.
The move comes on the heels of a number of efforts to diversify the group’s retail portfolio, including a major foray into the Indian market.
The new hypermarket will concentrate on groceries suitable for the large multinational population in Abu Dhabi and will join Spinneys at the mall.
Talal Al Dhiyebi, chief development officer of Aldar Properties, commented: “The Mall at World Trade Centre Abu Dhabi has undertaken extensive market research to better understand the needs and preferences of our customers and so have taken a strategic approach to diversify our retail offering. By introducing leading brands, like Lulu Hypermarket, we aim to exceed customer expectations, by providing the best shopping and leisure experience and therefore we are delighted to be signing this new collaboration.”
