The supervisory board of Lufthansa Cargo AG has announced changes to its executive board, with Karl Ulrich Garnadt moving from his position as head of hub management and passenger services on the Lufthansa German Airlines board to become Lufthansa Cargo chairman and CEO.
Mr Garnadt will take up his new role on 1 January 2011, replacing the outgoing Carsten Spohr, who is to become the new CEO of Lufthansa German Airlines on the same date.
Meanwhile, Lufthansa Cargo's supervisory board has named Dr Karl-Rudolf Rupprecht as the new board member operations at Lufthansa Cargo, stepping into the position vacated by the retiring Karl-Heinz Köpfle, who will leave the group on 1 April 2011.
'With these new appointments to the executive board of Lufthansa Cargo, we are continuing our forward-looking personnel planning at management level,' said Stephen Gemkow, chairman of the Lufthansa Cargo supervisory committee.
'Karl Ulrich Garnadt and Dr Karl-Rudolf Rupprecht are long-serving and experienced top managers at the Lufthansa Group,' he added. 'They know the airline business inside-out. With their proven logistics expertise, they are well equipped to keep Lufthansa Cargo on its successful course.'
