US Port of Los Angeles

The Port of Los Angeles has released its May 2014 containerised cargo volumes, noting that overall volumes increased 8.2 per cent compared with May 2013. Total cargo for May was 689,141 TEUs.

Container imports rose 7.75 per cent, from 326,114 TEUs last year to 351,403 TEUs in May 2014. Exports rose 2.3 per cent, from 154,904 TEUs to 158,473 TEUs.

Combined, total loaded imports and exports increased 6 per cent, from 481,019 TEUs to 509,876 TEUs. Factoring in empties, which increased 15 per cent year over year, overall May 2014 volumes (689,141 TEUs) rose 8.2 per cent compared.
