The Dutch seed specialist is hosting a sweet pepper seminar on the eve of Asia Fruit Logistica in Hong Kong, with expert speakers set to share their valuable insights
Leading pepper producers from Vietnam, India and Malaysia, along with market and technology experts, will share their insights at Rijk Zwaan’s sweet pepper seminar on 3 September.
Taking place the day before the start of Asia Fruit Logistica, Rijk Zwaan said the event would be key for retailers, traders and growers in the pepper sector, as the company seeks to develop a high-quality pepper category in Asia.
In the first session, focused on enhancing competitive positioning in the pepper sector, Mr Tu and Mrs Ngan, owners of Vietnam’s Mai Khoi Farm, will discuss how they have created sustainable solutions for their market.
Rijk Zwaan experts Heleen van Rijn-Wassenaar and Hong Tran Thi Thanh will explain recent shifts in production and consumer behaviour, and will discuss the latest cultivation methods.
Following these presentations, technical experts Robert van der Kamp from greenhouse builder Big Dutchman, part of Ammerlaan Construction, and Manuel Madani from technology partner Priva will join them for a panel discussion, to delve into the opportunities for advancing pepper cultivation techniques in Asia.
The second session of the seminar will focus entirely on the development of the sweet pepper category in Asia, with Rijk Zwaan chain manager Jan Doldersum discussing the company’s pepper assortment, followed by a guest speaker from Dole China who will highlight their experience in introducing pepper brands in Asia.
The opportunities that brands like Sweet Palermo, SN!BS and Tatayoyo offer will be explored by van Rijn-Wassenaar. In a panel discussion, Dole China, Ranjeet Karpe, owner of Nutrifresh in India, and Khoo Peng Keat, co-founder of Malaysia’s Food Forest Farm, will share details of how they are driving innovation in their respective pepper markets.
“Attendees are encouraged to contribute their own experiences and challenges to the discussion,” the company stated. “Rijk Zwaan is eager to enhance the category and drive the growth of the high-quality pepper market in Asia together by introducing new products and brands.”
The seminar takes place at Hong Kong’s AsiaWorld-Expo, Room MR 202, at 3-5.30pm on 3 September. Register here.
