Container traffic at France's leading container terminal, the Port of Le Havre, increased by 5 per cent in 2010, according to the port.
The port handled some 2.4m TEU in 2010, slightly more than the 2.2m TEU handled in 2009, largely due to the introduction of new Asia-Europe services at the port, news website Portworld reported.
New services included the joint service between Maersk Line and CMA CGM, new direct services from Vietnam by Hanjin Shipping and CMA CGM and two services from the New World Alliance.
An increase in reefer trade with Brazil is expected to drive further growth in 2011, Portworld said.
