Maersk Line has updated customers on the latest situation in Japan, in the wake of the devastating Earthquake and tsunami that struck earlier in the month:
'In light of the recent earthquake and tsunami which has devastated life and property in Northern Japan, we would like to declare that we are committed to serving the Japanese market as long as it is deemed safe. We have a long tradition and strong relationship with Japan, and we takeour responsibility in terms of securing a lifeline for its population seriously.
'We do realise that bringing goods and food supplies to Japanis more vital than ever in the face of the current crisis. That is why all Maersk Line operations are running as normal with the exception of certain ports like Sendai, Onahama, and Hachinohe which suffered severe damages.
'We remain committed to serving you with the usual standards of reliability that you are accustomed to.
