LAN Cargo

LAN Cargo, the airfreight subsidiary of Chilean airline LAN, has reportedly unveiled an expanded coldstorage import facility at Miami International Airport in the US.

The US$4m investment doubles LAN Cargo’s capacity for processing perishable goods and provides the company with the largest coldstorage facility operated by an airline at a US airport, according to a report by the Miami Herald.

Miami airport is LAN Cargo’s international headquarters and is where the company operates refrigerated facilities for importing fresh fruit, asparagus, cut flowers, salmon and other products from South America.

The airport was the second largest handler of international air freight last year, according to the Miami Herald.

LAN Cargo currently operates more than 430,000ft2 of space at the airport, including export and import terminals, coldstorage facilities, warehouses and offices.
