Italian fresh-cut convenience specialist La Linea Verde, which markets leading brand Dimmidisì, has established an important foothold in Spain through a new joint venture with cooperative group AN, part of leading Spanish company Navarra.
From its newly inaugurated headquarters in Tudela in the northern Spanish region of Vegetales Línea Verde Navarra will market fresh-cut and prepared fruit and vegetables under the Dimmidisì brand, already a well-known name in the Italian market.
The company's new centre boasts a processing area covering total of 3,000m2, six production lines and the ability to deliver around 8,000 tonnes of produce every year. Some 25 staff will be employed intially at the plant, although the company says it plans to increase this number to 150 within three years.
Giuseppe Battagliola, president of La Linea Verde, welcomed the new venture. 'We believe in our brand Dimmidisì and for that reason we want to export the positives that have made Italy a leader abroad, namely the qualitiesof its raw materials, its cutting-edge technology, its innovation and its high level of service,' he commented. 'Our arrival in Spain is the first step towards the objectives on which we are focused – increasing our presence abroad and broadening our distribution to foreign markets other than Austria, where we are already present.'
