US retailer Kroger has slated November as December as the launch dates for two of its largest stores, which will open in Houston, Texas.
Brazos Town Centre in Rosenberg and Waterside Marketplace in Richmond will welcome the stores, which will boast 125,000m2 of selling space.
The two Kroger Marketplace stores will feature extensive grocery selections as well as home furnishing, jewellery, gourmet and chef-prepared foods and a drive-through pharmacy, with the format set to be even bigger than the group's upscale Signature Store concept.
'We view these as two separate growth areas,' Gary Huddleston, consumer affairs director of Kroger Southwest, told the Houston Business Journal. 'We believe that these stores will serve two different markets and will do well in both these areas.'
