Dutch reefer terminal Kloosterboer Vlissingen has become the first reefer terminal handler to be awarded the certification by the 360 Quality Association.
Established in June 2005 by a group of specialised reefer shipping companies, the 360 standard aims to raise the quality in cargo care and meet the demands of the dynamic reefer market.
So far, some 90 reefer vessels have been certified in accordance with the 360 Quality Code, and a further 15-20 reefer terminals worldwide are expected to be certified this year.
Kloosterboer is a logistics service provider to the food industry, with cold stores located in IJmuiden, Elst, Rotterdam and Vlissingen (Flushing).
The group recently took a 50 per cent share in Seabrex (Rotterdam) – one of Europe’s biggest fruit handlers.
Combined Kloosterboer and Seabrex handle approximately 1.2m pallets of fruit and vegetables annually.
