Key Technology has announced the release of its newly-redesigned Flume Wash for fresh-cut produce, created to help remove debris, silt, grubs and contaminates from a variety of produce including shredded, chopped and whole leaf lettuce, cabbage and spinach as well as whole, sliced or diced fruit and vegetables.
The system features a new self-cleaning parabolic filter, heavy-duty pump motor, Iso-Flo dewatering shaker and Allen-Bradley controls, all of which helps enhance performance, ease sanitation and minimise maintenance, according to the group.
The fresh-cut produce industry is an important strategic market to Key,' said the group's fresh-cut industry manager Teri Johnson. 'We are focused on providing a wide range of superior processing and packaging solutions to help fresh-cut processors improve product quality and food safety while increasing operating efficiencies and cutting costs.'
Designed for small or medium-large processors, the system integrates one, two or three flumes depending on individual requirements, as well as optional spray bars that can help achieve a single, double or triple wash.
To effectively wash produce and ease sanitation, the Flume Wash features an easily-accessible settling sump that allows rocks and heavy silt to separate from the product, with a water unloading valve that flushes sediment and bugs, the US-group noted.
'The Flume Wash is one in a series of reengineered products in our fresh-cut line designed to deliver the greatest value to our customers,' Ms Johnson added.
