PMA Julia Stewart

Julia Stewart, public relations director at The Produce Marketing Association (PMA) in the US, has revealed she will be leaving the organisation on 21 January, according to a report in The Packer.

Ms Stewart, who joined the PMA in June 2008, told The Packer she is resigning because of “personal and family considerations”.

This spring, Ms Stewart will marry Dennis Courtier, the owner of Lake City, Minneapolis-based Pepin Heights Orchards. She also has a son and a daughter, aged 15 and 11 years.

“I’ve gotten to the point where I need to spend less time at work and more time focused on my family,” she told the publication. “It’s a tough decision, but I’m confident I’m making the right one.”

Ms Stewart said she will miss her PMA colleagues, including staff and volunteer leaders, and added that she considers PMA’s expanded presence in multimedia and social media as important accomplishments during her time at the association.

PMA president Bryan Silbermann said he is “sorry to see her go” and revealed that the organisation has already begun looking for a replacement, preferably someone based in Newark – where PMA’s US head office is located.
