Spanish melon and citrus exporter Bollo International Fruits has announced that its president, José Vercher Serra, and father of its current owners, Pepe, Juan, Sergio and Oscar Vercher has passed away.
Mr Vercher, alongside his wife, Matilde Company, was responsible for the modernisation of Bollo in the 1950s, a company which his father, José Vercher Cuñat, had established in 1922.
Although the day-to-day running of Bollo was passed to his sons during the 1980s, Mr Vercher maintained an active interest in the company, assuming the role of president, but he continued to visit its facilities on a daily basis.
