Jacobs, Malcolm & Burtt (JMB) has announced the recruitment of Donald Alford to its sales team to support the growth of its asparagus and sweet corn offerings.
He brings 30 years of experience in the produce industry and extensive customer relations experience to this established company.
“We are very excited to bring Donald aboard, and know that he will make an immediate impact on our day-to-day operations,” said Craig Rolandelli, president of JMB.
“Together with Chris Brazeel, our long-time salesman, Donald will give JMB the needed sales support and structure to enable us to move forward with our growth plans for both Mexican and California asparagus as well as our packaged sweet corn.”
Alford has previously worked at Sandstone Marketing and ATB, and most recently worked for 16 years as sales manager for Altar Produce, dealing mostly with asparagus, green onions and wet vegetables.
Founded in 1888, JMB is an industry leader in the US asparagus category, and as the largest shipper of California asparagus. The company’s California growers have invested in more than 150 new acres of asparagus, as well as over US$1m in new automated packing equipment to reduce packing costs.

JMB ships Mexican asparagus year round, and California asparagus from March to May. Packaged sweet corn offerings are available year round out of Mexico and Califor
