Jim DiMenna, President of JD Marketing/Jem-D International, has been named “Produce Person of the Year” by industry publication The Packer, according to a press release from Jem-D International.
The coveted Canadian award was announced at this year’s Canadian Produce Marketing Association’s (CPMA) Convention held in Montreal, Canada, on 13-15 April.
“I am thrilled and honoured to be among such a talented group of produce professionals and being named, “Produce Man of the Year” by The Packer is truly a monumental event in my life”, said Mr DiMenna.
Some of the past recipients of the distinguished award were also in attendance when Mr DiMenna was named the winner.
The award was presented by The Packer Publisher, Shannon Shuman, who introduced Mr DiMenna with statements such as; “Jim leads his team by example”, “Jim is a true gentleman in every sense of the word”,“Jim has an uncanny ability to put you at ease”.
Mr DiMenna began selling vegetables out of a wagon, door to door at a very young age of 10 for a local Ontario farmer. From that point on, the produce business was in his blood.
Mr DiMenna’s dedication to the produce industry is not only limited to office hours as he has volunteered a tremendous amount of personal time to the CPMA holding numerous committee, executive, and Board positions over the past two decades.
He will also serve as CPMA chairman in 2012/13, and most recently took on a leadership role at the Produce Traceability Initiative where he holds a position on PTI’s leadership council.
“Jim's dedication and passion for the health and longevity of the Canadian produce industry has brought him to this historical day and earned him this very prestigious award,” Jem-D International said.
