Two senior directors of bankrupt Russian fruit importer JFC have reportedly been handed temporary travel bans preventing them from leaving the country while the future of the company is decided.
According to reports in the Russian press citing police sources, group president Andrey Afanasiev and general director Julia Zakharova have both been informed by the Federal Bailiff Service that they are not allowed to travel overseas for the time being.
Both directors are based at JFC's office in St Petersburg and remain at the company while attempts are made to recover outstanding debts to financial groups including Sberbank, Bank of Moscow, Promsvyazbank, Uralsib Bank, ZAO Raiffeisenbank amounting to a reported R38.5bn (€929.6m).
Earlier this year, a similar travel ban on group chairman Vladimir Kekhman, himself declared bankrupt in November 2012 by the UK High Court of Justice, was lifted.
Afanasiev has been a key member of JFC's management team since 1997 and now sits on the board of directors.Zakharova joined the group in 1994 as a financial executive, before becoming general directorin 2005.
