Brazilian company resumes exports its premium yellow melon as acreage continues to grow
Brazil’s Itaueira is resuming exports of its premium Rei-branded yellow melons after a seven-year break to focus on the domestic market.
For 2025/26, the company will ship its signature yellow melons, along with smaller quantities of other varieties including mini seedless watermelons, to Europe, the UK, Canada and the Middle East.
This renewed focus on exports comes after a 20 per cent increase in planted area, driven by the reactivation of the company’s farm in Morada Nova, Ceará. This gives it a total production area of 3,000ha hectares.
“Expanding into international markets is a natural step for our company after the excellent results we’ve achieved in Brazil. With the expansion of our production capacity and the improvement of our processes, we are confident in offering the same superior-quality products to international consumers,” said international sales manager Aryan Schut.
To mark its return to the export market, Itaueira will be exhibiting at next month’s Fruit Logistica in Berlin.
