Core changes include a greater focus on engineering, improved workplace efficiencies, and a re-energised team

Ripening room specialist Interko has undergone strategic restructuring to prioritise its expertise in ripening.

Last year, the company closed its on-site sheet metal production facility and recruited additional engineers to focus its entire team on the company’s core mission – to develop the world’s most advanced and energy-efficient ripening rooms.

With support from the University of Delft in the Netherlands, Interko has transformed its factory in Moerkapelle to generate a more efficient workflow and set up a new, dedicated logistics department. The company said the change is designed to fostered harmony and productivity among staff in a more human workplace.

Managing director/partner Chris Maat commented: “2024 was a year of significant internal change for Interko. The decision to prioritise our fundamental expertise in building ripening rooms has made us more engineer focused at our core. This guarantees that we will continue developing the pioneering ripening solutions for which we are renowned.

“Now that every employee is working in tandem to produce the very best ripening rooms in the world, we have re-energised our team spirit. Our new, positive working environment has brought out the best qualities and skills in our staff, and everyone is benefitting and engaging.

“Already, our strategic restructure is driving efficiency, stimulating creativity, and optimising Interko’s ability to better serve our customers. Overall, it is a reflection of our ongoing commitment to progress. We’re excited for the future.”

Interko is now looking to recruit a sales manager to handle growing demand for its ripening rooms and will be exhibiting at next week’s Fruit Logistica.
