In order to maintain the quality and uniqueness of French shallots, France’s Interfel has renewed the agreement on size requirements
French interprofessional organisation Interfel has announced the renewal of its agreement on French shallots from 1 January 2025, extending the current deal for another three years.
The aim is to uphold the standards of French shallots and guarantee top quality for consumers, which Interfel says reflects the commitment of the whole fruit and vegetables sector.
The current agreement fixes the maximum size that can be sold at 55mm, whether on the domestic market or for export, helping to maintain the uniqueness of the product and avoid confusion with visually similar items like onions.
