Leanri was one of the top 10 most searched for citrus varieties on Naranjasyfrutas.com the leading Spanish fruit and vegetables sales platform, in the first three weeks of the year.

The data is taken from more than 100,000 annual visits to the platform, which publishes details of thousands of farmers’ crops free of charge so that wholesalers and grocery stores can them.

The platform’s manager, Juan José Bas, said the results show which varieties most sought after by buyers.

“As a novelty, it is worth highlighting the appearance in the lists of the new Leanri citrus variety, which accounted for 2.48 per cent of the total searches for citrus,” Bas said.

Tango topped the list with 16.09 per cent of searches, followed by Lane Late (11.91 per cent), Navelina (7.59 per cent) and Nadorcott (6.67 per cent).

Bas explained that Naranjasyfrutas.com aims to facilitate connections between farmers and wholesalers, “since by sharing information on available crops, both wholesalers who need to find available crops and farmers who need to sell their crops are benefiting”.

“The service is free for both farmers who want to advertise their crops along with their contact details and for wholesalers who want to search for available crops in order to contact the producer directly in a quick and easy way,” Bas said.
