Fruit Logistica is to once more honour the leading innovations in the fresh produce industry, with the sixth winner of the prestigious Innovation Award to be crowned in Berlin next year.
Applications for the award, which recognises pioneering developments in the fresh produce trade, are now being accepted, with event organiser Messe Berlin and Fruchthandel Magazine inviting exhibitors to submit their entries before the 26 November deadline.
The award competition is open to all Fruit Logistica 2011 exhibiting companies that have introduced an exceptional innovation to the market between 1 November 2009 and 31 October 2010, with exhibitors at fresh produce convenience trade fair Freshconex also invited to enter.
A panel of experts will select the year's ten most significant innovations from the submitted entries and nominate them for the Fruit Logistica Innovation Award 2011, with these ten products and services presented in a special exhibit area between Halls 20 and 21 where trade show visitors will be able to vote for their favourite.
The winner will be announced at the official award ceremony on 11 February 2011, the last day of the event.
Previous winners of the award have included the Salanova lettuce from Rijk Zwaan (2006), Vitamini's vegetable snacks from FresQ/Rainbow Growers (2007), the Intense tomato Nunhems (2008), the Sweet Green Pepper from Enza Zaden (2009) and Mtex's Arils Removal Tool for pomegranates (2010).
Fruit Logistica and Freshconex will take place at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds in Germany on 9-11 February 2011.
