A group of Indian potato growers are finalising a deal with Russian traders to export Indian potatoes to Russia for the first time.
Around 10 potato producers from India's Punjab region are preparing to supply some 10,000 tonnes to Russia, which is in the midst of a severe potato shortage caused by extreme weather, reports The Times of India.
Two Russian traders approached the Punjab growers because of their low prices, the paper said.
The growers expect to complete the deal over the next two days.
