With the French apple season just getting going, producershave been angered by the number of imported varieties on supermarket shelves inFrance, according to Le Post.
Sales of French apples are reportedly in free-fall, down byapproximately 50 per cent, while retailers continue to stock tonnes of foreignapples, above all from South America.
According to the newspaper, around 20 per cent of Frenchapples are being left on the ground. One producer from Vaucluse, who wasinterviewed by France 2 television, said he expected to lose €10,000 perhectare.
