IFCO has announced that it has signed two new service agreements with leading French group Carrefour and Austrian company Spar, that will see IFCO become the retailers' reusable packaging service provider for fruits and vegetables.
Deals with Carrefour, with more than 5,000 points of sale in France, and Spar österreichische Warenhandels-AG, with 1,500 points of sale in Austria, represent significant milestones in IFCO's long-term strategy, according to IFCO CEO Karl Pohler.
'We are very pleased that Carrefour France has selected IFCO as its RPC service provider and is committed to delivering superior logistics services to the French retail market,' said Mr Pohler, a sentiment he echoed with regards to Spar.
'The environmentally friendly packaging system of IFCO enables Spar to achieve cost savings and efficiency improvements over the entire supply chain,' said Dietmar Steiner, business process manager of fruits and vegetables at Spar Austria. 'IFCO's Europe-wide and national infrastructure and service competence were the determining factors in our decision with regards to this long-lasting partnership.'
