International logistics service provider IFCO has announced that it has handed the role of vice-president and managing director for Germany, Austria and Eastern Europe to Michael Meierhöfer, effective 1 June 2010.
According to the group, the appointment has been made to support the strategic positioning of the global market leader for reusable packaging logistics services.
Until the end of 2010, Mr Meierhöfer will be supported by Jürg Geiger, managing director of IFCO Switzerland, who has been responsible for the successful development of the German market and is now reducing his workload because of his age.
Mr Meierhöfer completed vocational training as a fruit and vegetable wholesaler before studying at the Wiesbaden University of applied sciences, and he has occupied roles at companies including Atlanta AG (now Univeg).
'Thanks to his excellent knowledge in the field of fruits and vegetables and the related supply chain, Meierhöfer is thoroughly acquainted with the logistical processes and thus with IFCO's core business,' the group noted in a statement.
