The board of ICA's Norwegian operation has decided to sell off its ICA Maxi hypermarket and superstore outlets in the country, according to a report by Planet Retail.
The Ahold-owned retailer is now planning to concentrate its Norwegian operations on its discount store chain Rimi and the ICA Supermarket concept, as it looks to turn around a negative earnings trend in the country.
ICA currently operates 25 Maxi stores in Norway, of which nine are owned by ICA Norway, with the operation posting sales of NOK3bn (€384m) in 2010.
