Fepex has reported that horticultural trade between Portugal and Spain has increased 'significantly' over the past five years, with 2013 proving no exception.
In value terms, some €249.1m of fruit products were exported to Portugal from Spain last year, driven by bananas, grapes and strawberries, while some €128.7m of vegetables were exported, led by potatoes and tomatoes.
This marked an overall increase of 20 per cent on 2012, Fepex noted.
Meanwhile, Portugal exported €42.9m worth of fruit and €41.5m of vegetables to Spain, total year-on-year growth of 5 per cent.
Compared with five years ago, Spanish exports have increased 43 per cent in value terms, while Portuguese exports have soared by 50 per cent.
