Andalusian fresh produce association Hortyfruta has met with its German counterpart, the National Association for German Fruit and Vegetable Sales (DFHV), to discuss working towards a collaborative agreement to share pricing and market information.
At meeting in the southern Spanish cities of Almeria and Granada, the two organisations agreed to maintain an open line of communication, with a view to sharing information regarding prices, volumes and the state of the German market.
Hortyfruta plans to meet again with DFHV at Fruit Logistica 2012 to confirm details for a collaborative agreement between the associations.
In a statement, Hortyfruta said the initial encounter provided it with an opportunity to show “the reality” of the Andalusian fresh produce sector and the “respect of its producers for the environment”, as well as “the huge difference” between the prices paid to growers and those charged in supermarkets.
