Hortifrut has joined forces with Peruvian producer Grupo Rocío to create a new berry company in Peru.
The Chilean company is said to be investing US$11m in the 50:50 joint venture, to be called Hortifrut-Tal SAC, with which it aims to boost its presence in the early Southern Hemisphere supply window and consolidating its position as a leading berry supplier.
As well as being Chile’s biggest berry producer, Hortifrut has farms in Argentina, Uruguay, Mexico, the US, Spain and Poland.
Its European division, Euroberry Marketing, sells and distributes fresh berries across Europe, where its products are traded under the brandname Southern Sun.
