Hortifrut, the leading Chilean berry grower-exporter, has revealed that sales and profits both strengthened in 2011 as demand for its range increased.
The group saw sales value increase by 22 per cent on a year-on-year basis, rising to US$180m for 2011, as some 28,000 tonnes of berries were sold across the globe, Fresh Fruit Portal reported.
Profits soared 158.4 per cent to US$13.1m, driven by growth across all categories including both conventional and organic berries and value-added products.
