A new regular feeder service introduced by shipping group Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) has linked Hamburg in Germany with St Petersburg in Russia, after the first departure from Hamburg took place on 25 March.
The service, which has been formed in conjunction with Belgian group Team Lines (a subsidiary of Delphis), sees the feeder ship Robert transporting cargo every 14 days.
Robert is 134.4m in length and 22.5m in width, and boasts a container slot capacity of 868 TEUs, as well as 234 connections for refrigerated reefer containers.
Russia was Hamburg's third most important trading partner for container shipments in 2008 with 720,000 TEUs shipped, with 660,000 TEUs transported between Hamburg and St. Petersburg specifically.
