Dutch group Hillfresh International has announced that it is expecting the first Cantaloupe melons of the new season to arrive in week 50 this year, with the fruit sourced from Guatemala.
According to Hillfresh, it has opted to source Cantaloupe melons from Guatemala because the Brazilian Cantaloupe season end prematurely, leading to difficulties in delivering the correct quantities to Europe.
'From week 50, about 20 containers per week will come in both 6kg and 15kg cartons to Hillfresh,' a group statement confirmed. 'The quality, brix and taste are excellent as always.
'The melons are obviously from a GlobalGAP certified supplier and the melons meet all European MRL requirements.'
Hillfresh also confirmed that Galia and Yellow melons would be available from week 2.
