Fresh Healthy Vending offers fresh fruit and vegetables to schoolchildren in vending machines that it says will improve youngsters' diets.
The company, which was set up in San Diego last year, has responded to research published in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association that showed vending machines on school campuses negatively affected children's diets.
CEO Jolly Backer said: 'When you have a vending machine filled with healthy ones you nix the problems. We take the choice out of letting kids pick between healthy and unhealthy food, yet there is something for everyone.'
