The Port of Hamburg handled total throughput of 35.6m tonnes in the first quarter of 2015, marking growth of 0.1 per cent year-on-year.
According to the port authority, bulk cargoes, at 11.7m tonnes (up by 12.3 per cent) and container transport between the port and its hinterland at 602,000 TEUs (up by 11.1 per cent) were the strongest contributors to throughput growth.
Container throughput for the first three months of the year came in at 2.3m TEUs, remaining below the previous year’s result by 2.3 per cent.
