Hamburg Süd Bahia containership

Germany-based shipping group Hamburg Süd has said in a statement that it is to separate from Zim on the North Europe-Israel service to mount its own independent operation.

While the company confirmed that the move would take place in October this year, it noted that further details of the service were still under consideration.

'Detailed information on the enhanced service concept which will feature improved connectivity to Hamburg Süd's Global Liner Network will be presented as soon as the corresponding analysis has been finalised,' the group said.

The decision is the latest alteration to one of Hamburg Süd's services, following a decision with Maersk Line in June to introduce a second string in their service between Asia, South Africa and the East Coast of South America.
