The healthier Halloween snack is available in select locations across the UK and Spain
Halloweena, the pumpkin-shaped mandarin from Genesis Fresh, is back for a second season after last year’s successful debut.
With its vibrant, multi-coloured skin and sweet, virtually seedless pulp, Halloweena offers a healthier alternative to traditional sugary Halloween treats. It will be available in select locations across the UK and Spain.
David Alba, CEO of Genesis Fresh, commented: “Halloweena is a fruit that connects innovation and nature in a way that truly inspires customers. At Genesis Fresh, we are always looking to develop new varieties that fundamentally bring joy to people’s lives. We have worked meticulously to develop a fruit that is delicious and aligns with consumer trends towards healthier, naturally sweet snacking alternatives.
Halloweena is a testament to our ongoing commitment to revolutionise the citrus category, bringing together the best elements of nature and science to deliver premium-quality produce that excites both retailers and consumers”.
Nicolás Boscafiori, new product development manager at AMFresh, said: “Halloweena’s success is rooted in our ability to bring innovation to every step of the chain—from field to store. We work closely with our growers to nurture the fruit from the ground up, ensuring it reaches consumers in the best possible condition.
“This year, we focused on elevating the quality even further, while collaborating with our retail partners to deliver something truly special. Halloweena has not only captivated consumer interest but has also set new benchmarks in the field, with farm prices soaring to unprecedented levels, far surpassing the standard for premium late-season mandarins, which usually deliver the best returns to the grower.
“This extraordinary performance showcases the true value of innovation and our commitment to offering a product that is exciting for both consumers and growers. Halloweena is an exciting and playful experience, one that connects the farms, our packhouse, and retail partners with the consumer’s desire for something fresh and exciting.”
Patricia Sagarmínaga, global director of marketing and communications at AMFresh, added: “What excites me most about Halloweena is how it creates new moments and sparks curiosity, reawakening shoppers’ interest in healthier snacking. It taps into the wild, mystical side of nature—something fun for the next generation and nostalgic for parents.
“Across our farming, packhouse, technical, logistics, and commercial teams, everyone loves the playful energy of this pumpkin-shaped citrus and cannot wait to share its magic with the world. With Halloweena, we bridge the joy of discovery with purposeful innovation as we seek to open curious eyes to fresh, exciting alternatives from nature. Halloweena is driving new conversations about healthy choices, and this is just the beginning”.
