Partnership kicks off with panel discussion and networking event at February’s Fruit Logistica trade fair in Berlin
Global Women Fresh (GWF) has teamed up with Germany’s Import Promotion Desk (IPD) and Fruit Logistica in a new collaboration to create opportunities for women in agriculture, promote innovation, and inspire greater diversity within the fresh produce industry.
The collaboration will launch with a panel discussion and networking session at February’s Fruit Logistica trade fair in Berlin. The event, which takes place on Friday, 7 February on the Tech Stage, located in hall 2.1, booth A-40, will showcase the achievements of women in the fresh produce industry and address the key challenges they face in the global marketplace.
GWF’s founder and president, Julie Escobar, told Fruitnet: “We are thrilled to collaborate with Fruit Logistica and IPD to connect and inspire women in the fresh produce industry. This partnership aligns perfectly with our mission to create inclusive opportunities for women across the supply chain. Together, we aim to amplify their voices and inspire the next generation of women leaders”.
The partnership will feature a range of events designed to highlight the contributions of women entrepreneurs, professionals, and leaders in the sector. GWF, in collaboration with IPD, will offer a platform for discussing solutions to key challenges such as accessing international markets, navigating trade regulations, fostering sustainable business practices and work-life balance strategies.
“We look forward to working closely GWF and Fruit Logistica to jointly promote women in international trade,” said Tabea Mack, head of sourcing and markets at IPD. “As IPD, we know the challenges of meeting market demands and forging sustainable trade partnerships. GWF and its focus on empowering women is the ideal partner to support women to overcome these challenges and become successful women in global trade.”
Fruit Logistica attendees will also have the chance to engage with the GWF community and learn from IPD’s deep knowledge of international trade networks. The organisers said the collaboration offers a unique opportunity for women to expand their reach, build meaningful connections, and explore new business avenues within the global fresh produce market.
“Fruit Logistica is proud to support this collaboration between GWF and IPD,” said Kai Mangelberger, director of Fruit Logistica. “By fostering innovation, inclusivity, and leadership, this partnership will create an environment where women are empowered to lead the industry’s growth in the years ahead.”
Maura Maxwell, managing editor of Fruitnet Media International, will moderate the panel discussion. She said: “I’m pleased to be involved with this partnership between Global Women Fresh and the Import Promotion Desk and support GWF’s mission of fostering growth, leadership, and equality in the fresh produce industry.”
Through this collaboration, GWF, Fruit Logistica, and IPD said they would continue to promote diversity, innovation, and leadership, ensuring women have the tools, support, and visibility they need to thrive in the global fresh produce supply chain.
