Murcian grower-exporter Grupo de Ventas Hortofrutícola (Gruventa) saw a 15 per cent increase in its sales of winter vegetables during the 2013/14 season, which managing director Fermín Sánchez characterised as “satisfactory”.
“Overall quality was good and supply and demand were well balanced,” he says. “Sales were up in all our export markets, both within the European Union and beyond.”
Sánchez pointed out that the company made strong gains in eastern European markets where Spanish vegetables enjoy a good reputation.
Gruventa is on course to market around 35,000 tonnes of fruits and vegetables in 2013/14, compared with 25,000 tonnes during the previous season.
