Antwerp Port Authority has revealed that freight volume handled by the Belgian port increased through the opening nine months of the yerar, when compared with the same period of 2012.
According to the Authority, the port handled a freight volume of 143m tonnes through the January-September period, up 3 per cent on the previous year.
Despite overall growth, the container segment showed a slight decline, both in tonnage and in TEU.
The number of handled containers fell by 1.7 per cent and ended up at 6.4m TEU, while in tonnage there was a decline of 2.8 per cent, totalling 76.5m tonnes.
