Greenyard Logistics USA hosted an opening celebration this week for its new state-of-the-art logistics facility, in the Logan Township region of Swedesboro, New Jersey.
The 152,200ft2 facility is strategically positioned within close proximity of the north eastern ports and marks the first building and expansion in the US of Belgium-based parent company, Greenyard.
“We are excited to officially inaugurate this facility and celebrate its opening with all those who made this expansion possible,” said Mayda Sotomayor, managing director of Greenyard Logistics USA.
Guests including members of Greenyard’s management team from Belgium, key retailers, growers, industry association leaders, local government officials and staff were in attendance of the event.
“This expansion demonstrates our commitment to growth and better serving our customers.”
“I am very proud that we were able to open this new facility in New Jersey,” said Marleen Vaesen, CEO of Greenyard. “The US is a market of strategic importance for the group where we want to achieve growth, and opening this distribution centre is a clear milestone in our growth plans.”
Guests were able to tour the facility and see highlights such as the 8,000 pallet positions, 30 dock doors and high-capacity packing lines in action with summer citrus product from Greenyard Logistics’ sister company Seald Sweet.
Mayor Frank Minor of Logan Township also attended the event and welcomed Greenyard to the community.
He commended the company for its continued growth, providing jobs in the area and making the company’s tagline, “for a healthier future,” a reality, through delivering fresh fruits and vegetables to consumers across the US through this new facility.
