Green almond

Agrexco has revealed that exports of green almonds will increase by 25 per cent this season, up to 100 tonnes from 80 tonnes shipped last year.

According to Agrexco product manager Tidhar Jackson, the UK and France will receive the bulk of exports, with the export increase 'intended to satisfy the growing demand for the green almond before it dries and turns into the common almond we are all familiar with'.

The nuts have a short season from the end of April to the beginning of June, and will enter the market two weeks earlier than any of its competitors, according to the group.
