Metro has announced in a press release that its seven GP stores will convert to the Metro GP banner by 17 June, although the products offered in-store, particularly the vast selection of local products, will remain unchanged.
“This decision confirms Metro’s commitment to the Pelletier family’s brilliant work with its customers, employees and suppliers over the past 50 years,” said Christian Bourbonnière, senior vice-president of Metro’s Quebec Division.
“This means that the same team that was devoted and attentive to customers’ needs, supported by the Mont-Joli office, will be there to greet you in the seven Metro GP supermarkets in the Bas-Saint-Laurent and Gaspésie.”
As part of the move, Metro said it will enhance the heritage of the GP banner and increase its visibility in the Bas-Saint-Laurent and Gaspésie region following the acquisition completed last September.
Local businesses will be called upon to make the planned changes to the store signs.
Metro operates in Québec and Ontario a network of close to 600 food stores under several banners including Metro, Metro Plus, GP, Super C and Food Basics, as well as over 250 drugstores under the Brunet, Brunet Plus, Clini Plus, The Pharmacy and Drug Basics banners.
