CropLife Latin America has joined forces with GlobalGAP to promote sustainable agriculture throughout Latin America. The San José-based organisation said that as well as promoting GlobalGAP certification, the alliance would strengthen its CuidAgro programme, which last year trained more than 145,000 growers on the correct use of pesticides.
“This alliance is an opportunity to strengthen our communication with consumers, growers and regional authorities to promote sustainable agriculture in the region,” said José Perdomo, president of CropLife Latin America.
He said becoming part of GlobalGAP demonstrated the plant science industry’s commitment to a competitive and sustainable agriculture model and would lead to more large, medium and small growers certifying their production.
