Giumarra International Berry has announced that it has completed an agreement with Early Crop of Argentina for the upcoming 2013 blueberry import season.
The group explained that Early Crop is a newly formed company whose primary production region is in Tucumán, which leads the start of the Argentinean berry import season each year.
The additional volume from Early Crop will double Giumarra’s 2012 blueberry supplies from Tucumán.
“Early Crop begins production in the earliest days of the Tucumán harvest,' noted Tom Richardson, vice-president of global development for the Giumarra group of companies.
'This project is an essential piece in keeping Giumarra as a primary receiver of early volume from Argentina,' he said. 'This ensures we will once again be one of the largest and earliest import companies from this key growing region, which is important in continuing to fully supply our customer base.”
Ariel Ares, the founder of Early Crop, has grown blueberries in Tucumán for the past ten seasons and revealed that it had been his dream to bring the producers of Argentina into a closer relationship with the customers of the world – and ultimately to the end consumer.
“We see the ongoing relationship with the Giumarra Companies as a great avenue in reaching our goals in the North American marketplace,” he outlines.
